The short version. Bloom runs on your iPhone and syncs to your own private iCloud. There is no Bloom server. We have no account system, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your financial data is never sent to us โ€” because there is no "us" to send it to.

1. What data Bloom handles

Bloom is a personal-finance tracker. To do its job, it lets you record and organize:

All of this stays on your device.

2. Where your data lives

Two possible locations, both under your control:

3. What we do not collect

4. Apple Pay and FinanceKit

Bloom can optionally read your Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Apple Savings activity via Apple's FinanceKit framework (iOS 17.4+). This runs entirely on your device โ€” Bloom asks iOS for the data and iOS returns it locally. No third party is involved. You can turn this off any time in iOS Settings โ†’ Bloom โ†’ Financial Data.

For other cards, Bloom shows you a walkthrough for an iOS Shortcuts automation. The automation you build lives in your Shortcuts app under your control. When you make a purchase, iOS runs the shortcut on-device and passes the transaction data to Bloom. Nothing goes through Bloom's servers (there are none). You control FinanceKit access via iOS Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Financial Data โ†’ Bloom.

5. Camera and receipt scanning

The camera is used only when you tap the scan icon to capture a receipt. The image and the extracted text are stored locally with iOS file-protection. Nothing is uploaded.

6. Notifications

Bloom schedules local notifications for credit-card statement dates, payment due dates, and bill reminders. These are generated on your device by iOS. Bloom does not use push notifications, and no server sends anything to you.

7. Face ID / Passcode

If you enable App Lock, Bloom asks iOS to authenticate you via Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. iOS handles the check. Bloom never sees your biometric or passcode data โ€” only a yes/no result.

8. Widgets, Lock Screen, and Live Activities

Home-screen and lock-screen widgets read a small snapshot Bloom writes to a shared iOS App Group on your device โ€” spend this month, budget left, next bill, and top savings goal. The snapshot lives locally, is refreshed by the app, and never leaves your iPhone. Live Activities (if enabled) render the same locally-computed numbers on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

10. Children's privacy

Bloom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how Bloom handles data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Because Bloom doesn't have your contact information, we can't notify you individually โ€” check back here or in the app's Settings if you're concerned.
